New to KYE

Welcome to Kundalini Yoga East, the first and longest running Kundalini Yoga studio in New York City. In Manhattan just above Union Square, at 873 Broadway (between 18th and 19th Streets). Find Kundalini Yoga East in the electronic directory at front door of the building and dial us up to open the front door. Take the elevator to the 6th Floor. We are in suite 614. Beginners are welcome at all classes.

When to Arrive

Do your best to arrive 15 minutes before class begins, allowing yourself ample time to sign in and ask questions, store your belongings and change clothes, use the restroom, meet other students, and get oriented.

What to Wear

Please wear modest, comfortable, light-colored clothing, preferably of cotton or other natural, breathable fiber. This type of apparel can enhance your experience by expanding your aura and personal awareness, and also makes it easier for teachers to see how you’re breathing and moving during class. It’s best to remove your socks before practice.

White clothing, while traditional in our practice, is not required to participate. Many students choose to wear white and many wear other colors. A headcovering is worn by many practitioners. It is not a requirement to cover you head in order to participate in the class.

The dress at the studio is modest and simple.

What to bring

The studio floor is carpet.  Please bring a towel, small cloth or mat to sit on or rent a towel if you wish for $2  We have blocks and pillows for use as needed.  You may wish to bring a water bottle.  We have filtered water at the studio  and glass bottles for purchase.

When to Eat

In order to experience the maximum benefits, it’s best to eat about two hours before you practice yoga and meditation, as it is easier to breathe and move on an empty stomach. If you must eat prior to class, a piece of fruit is recommended.
